We use our facility to focus on the fundamentals of hitting, pitching and catching. We are not a batting cages with pitching machines, we focus on the fundamental mechanics with live pitching. This allows the player to refine timing based on release points and learn specific pithing release points and hand positions.
We us our bullpens to not only train our pitchers, but to offer pitching lessons for those wishing to develop their skills.
We teach pitchers all aspects of the position. Our training includes the basics of grips, pitches and the mechanics that are at the core of every pitch. We help pitchers understand how to approach an at bat, pitch sequences and placement of the ball. The mental approach of pitching is as important as the physical training. Being able to understand the game, deal with the pressures are essential to any pitcher's developments
Hitting, Catching, the basics and beyond.
We offer training in all of the fundamentals of the game. Our hitting philosophy for example is not believe in pitching machines. They only create bad habits where a player will learn only to hit a pitch in the same location at the same speed. Live pitching, even in batting practice, is the only way to reinforce the correct techniques, which will assist them in the game.
Focus on positional play.
As players develop, they need specific positional training. We help players understand the correct position for their physique and abilities and then focus on teaching the footwork, glovework and nuances of playing that position.
Fitness and Agility
Baseball is a sport and basic fitness and agility is often overlooked in the early stage of a players development. We run a program that introduces agility workouts at an early age, working on improving range, running speed and general reflexes to give the player a significant advantage at the game.
Our Hitting Methodology
We do not believe in pitching machines. It only creates bad habits where a player will learn only to hit a pitch in the same location at the same speed. Live pitching, even in batting practice, is the only way to reinforce the techniques which are taught at the San Jose Baseball Training Center. We use other training aids such as hitting off the tee, and many variations of soft toss:
Front Toss
Lead Arm
Swing Trail Arm
Swing No Shoulder
Swing Side Toss
We believe the best way to learn hitting is by repetition and hard work. We do NOT employ a production environment where everyone is taught to hit the same way. We take the hitter as he is, with his strengths and weaknesses and develop the hitter by
building him in terms of confidence and performance. We spend time evaluating the individual and customize our approach to the hitter's style.
Hitting lessons are part of the Bulldogs program, we also offer Hitting lessons to non Bulldogs, please contact us for further information.
Our Defensive Methodology
Development of each player
Baseball is a team sport and we practice as a team. Coaches work with the team working on the fundamentals of defense. Working on positioning, footwork, glove work and teaching the angles of approach and reaction for each position.
As players develop in skill and age, we structure training to suit their needs, this can range from specific range extension exercises for shortstop, weights and squats for catchers, to careful development of the core and arm for pitchers. Each concept is introduced slowly and catered to each position / player.
Private Hitting Lessons
We provide private lessons on hitting to non-bulldogs. Our process is first to evaluate the player and assess their needs. We then structure a number of optional programs that are designed to bring the hitting abilities of the player to the next level. Please contact us for more information.
Private Pitching Lessons
We believe that each pitcher is different. They can have different strengths, armslots and body strength. Our private lesson structure allows us to evaluate each individual player and offer a program that is specifically tailored to the needs for each player. This could range from basic arm strength improvement, fundamental mechanics, lower body use, arm action to grip modifications and the overall mental approach to pitching.
